ASADSV Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Statement: We acknowledge the intersectionality of identities and experiences that shape individuals'
lives, and we are committed to addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by diverse
communities in American Samoa. We strive to create programs and initiatives that are
culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and accessible to all individuals, regardless of religion,
race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, ability, or other
identities. We are dedicated to actively engaging with and listening to the voices of survivors, advocates,
community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure that our work is inclusive, responsive,
and reflective of the diverse perspectives and lived experiences within American Samoa. Through ongoing education, training, and dialogue, we seek to cultivate a supportive and
inclusive organizational culture where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to
contribute to positive change. We understand that achieving our mission requires a commitment to dismantling systems of
oppression and addressing the root causes of violence, inequality, and injustice. We are
dedicated to advancing equity and social justice through our advocacy efforts, policy initiatives,
and collaborative partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and other
stakeholders. As we work towards our shared vision of a safe, supportive, and equitable society for all
individuals and communities in American Samoa, we reaffirm our commitment to Diversity,

Equity, and Inclusion as core values that guide our actions, decisions, and interactions every
day. Together, we can create a future where everyone can thrive, free from violence and
oppression.

To end , let's reflect on the statistics.

These high numbers reflect reported cases. Imagine the statistics if all cases were included!

Remember - Gender-based violence includes violence against LGBTQIA+ & SOGIESC people!

According to the CDC's National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, 69.3% of bisexual women, 56.3% of le***an women, 46.1% of bisexual men, and 47.7% of gay men have reported experiencing contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner at some point in their lifetime.

While domestic violence can happen to anyone, many abusers choose to use these and other marginalized survivors' identities and experiences against them in order to shame, hurt, and control them. These survivors often face additional barriers to seeking help, and programs and shelters meant to help them may not have the funding or resources they need to fully support every survivor reaching out.

This is unacceptable. All survivors, including these survivors, deserve help and support. 💜
