Prahlada fue un gran devoto de Dios. Bali, su nieto, fue un gran emperador y devoto. Se dice que el placer es un intervalo entre dos dolores; entre dos entidades buenas, hay una mala. En medio, el padre de Bali, Virochana, era racionalista y ateo. En el mundo, hay muchas personas que se inspiran en Prahlada y Bali. También hay muchos que siguen el ejemplo de Virochana. El mundo no sería lo que es si no existieran tales variaciones. A lo largo de la historia, los devotos de Dios han tenido que soportar muchas pruebas y privaciones, pero nunca perdieron la fe en Dios. Se han erigido como ideales y ejemplos para la humanidad. Bali fue uno de esos grandes ejemplos. Onam se celebra como el día sagrado en que Bali alcanzó la liberación. También es el día en que nació Vamana. Además, es el día en que cada año Bali visita la tierra para experimentar el amor de la gente y participar en sus alegrías. Por lo tanto, las personas no deberían conformarse con disfrutar de la comida y la vestimenta, sino que deberían esforzarse por experimentar la dicha del Espíritu. Prahlada was a great devotee of God. Bali, his grandson, was a great emperor and devotee. It is said that pleasure is an interval between two pains; between two entities that are good, there is one entity which is bad. In between, the father of Bali, Virochana, was a rationalist and atheist. In the world, there are any number of persons who derive inspiration from Prahlada and Bali. There are also many who take the cue from Virochana. The Jagat (world) will not be what it is if such variations did not exist. All through history, the devotees of God have had to endure many ordeals and privations, but they never lost their faith in God. They have stood out as ideals and examples to mankind. Bali was one such great exemplar. Onam is celebrated as the sacred day when Bali achieved liberation. It is also the day when Vamana was born. It is also the day when each year Bali visits the earth to experience the love of the people and participate in their rejoicings. Encarnaciones del Amor Divino! Innumerables olas surgen del vasto océano. Las olas parecen diferir entre sí. Pero estas múltiples olas no son diferentes del océano. En todas las olas, la naturaleza y las cualidades del océano son inmanentes. De igual modo, los innumerables seres que ves en este Cosmos ilimitado parecen ser diferentes entre sí, pero todos ellos surgieron de la misma fuente Cósmica cuya forma es Sat-Chit-Ananda (Ser-Conciencia-Dicha). Cuando llueve, el agua pura cae sobre la tierra, las montañas, los ríos y el mar. Pero el agua pura adquiere el color y el sabor de la región o el lugar donde cae. De igual modo, los profetas y mesías, que descendieron a diferentes partes del mundo en diferentes momentos, impartieron su mensaje en términos apropiados para el tiempo, el lugar y las condiciones de las personas involucradas. Por esta razón, las religiones no pueden considerarse diferentes entre sí. Todas las religiones han enseñado solo lo que es bueno para la humanidad. Embodiments of Divine Love! Innumerable waves arise from the vast ocean. The waves appear to differ in form from one another. But these multifarious waves are not different from the ocean. In all the waves, the nature and qualities of the ocean are immanent. Likewise, the innumerable beings which you see in this boundless Cosmos appear to be different from one another, but all of them emerged from the same Cosmic source whose form is Sat-Chit-Ananda (Being-Awareness-Bliss). When rain pours down from the sky, pure water falls on the earth, mountains, rivers and the sea. But the pure water acquires the colour and taste of the region or spot where it falls. Likewise, prophets and messiahs, coming down in different parts of the world at different times, imparted their message in terms appropriate to the time, the place and the conditions of the people concerned. Religions cannot be considered different from each other for this reason. All religions have taught only what is good for humanity. Religion should be practised with this awareness. ¿Cómo se manifiestan la verdadera devoción y la verdadera comprensión de la naturaleza de lo Divino en un individuo? Bhagavan lo afirma claramente hoy.

Hay dos verdades que todo peregrino o devoto debe aceptar: (1) La devoción debe ser plena, libre e integral. (2) La Divinidad debe concebirse como plena, libre e integral. Por otro lado, la devoción hoy en día es casi siempre superficial. Es decir, cuando la enfermedad, la derrota o la decepción nos azotan, acudimos a Dios y oramos por Su gracia; pero cuando somos felices, prósperos, sanos y estamos en buena forma, ignoramos a Dios y afirmamos que todo se debe a nuestras propias habilidades y logros. A Dios se le ignora en los días soleados; solo se le busca en la oscuridad. La devoción debe persistir y florecer, sin verse afectada por el tiempo, el lugar o las circunstancias. A Dios también se le debe experimentar en Su plenitud, y el Ananda de esa experiencia debe convertirse en una posesión permanente. Es imposible experimentar a Dios y hablar de Él al mismo tiempo. Palabras como Sarvajna (omnisciente) y Sarvavyapi (omnipresente) son usadas por la gente desde tiempos ancestrales, ya que los ancianos y los santos las empleaban; es imposible que alguien experimente plenamente estas cualidades de lo Divino y, al mismo tiempo, hable de esa experiencia. - Discurso Divino, 30 de agosto de 1974

How will true devotion and true comprehension of the nature of the Divine manifest in an individual? Bhagawan clearly states today.
There are two truths that must be accepted by every pilgrim or devotee: (1) Devotion has to be full, free, and comprehensive. (2) Divinity must be conceived as full, free, and comprehensive. On the other hand, devotion today is almost always only ‘part-time’. That is to say, whenever disease, defeat, or disappointment happen to assail you, you turn to God and pray for His Grace; but when you are happy, prosperous, healthy, and in good shape, you ignore God and claim that they are all due to your own abilities and achievements. God is ignored in sunshine; He is wanted only when there is night. Devotion must persist and flourish, unaffected by time, place or circumstance. God too has to be experienced in His fullness, and the Ananda of that experience should be made one’s permanent possession. It is impossible to experience God and also talk about Him. Words like Sarvajna (all-knowing) and Sarvavyapi (all-pervasive) are used by people since elders and saints have used them from ancient times; it is impossible for anyone to have the fullest and the most comprehensive experience of these qualities of the Divine, and also speak about that experience.

Cuando Rama, Sita y Lakshmana fueron al bosque y llegaron a la montaña Chitrakuta, Rama le dijo a Lakshmana que construyera una cabaña en el lugar que él eligiera. Al oír estas palabras, Lakshmana se sintió herido y bajó la cabeza con tristeza. Al notarlo, Sita le preguntó a Lakshmana: "¿Por qué estás tan preocupado, Lakshmana? Tu hermano no dijo nada duro. ¿Por qué te sientes tan triste?". Lakshmana dijo: "¡Oh, Madre! ¿Acaso he tenido alguna elección propia? Ser como Rama es mío. Me he entregado a Rama. Quiero cumplir la orden de Rama. Siendo así, ¿cómo puedo soportar el impacto de que Rama me pida que construya la cabaña en el lugar que yo elija? ¿Acaso no equivale a separarme de Rama?". Esa es la intensidad de los sentimientos de un verdadero devoto hacia el Señor. Tus pensamientos siempre deben estar centrados en Dios. El mundo es como una nube pasajera. Pero la relación entre tú y Dios es permanente y eterna. - Discurso Divino, 11 de octubre de 1998

When Rama, Sita and Lakshmana went to the forest and reached Chitrakuta mountain, Rama told Lakshmana to put up a hut in a place of his choice. Hearing these words, Lakshmana felt hurt and bent down his head with grief. Noting this, Sita asked Lakshmana, “Why are you perturbed, Lakshmana? Your brother did not say anything harsh. Why do you feel so sad?” Lakshmana said, “O, Mother! Have I ever had any choice of my own? The likes of Rama are mine. I have surrendered myself to Rama. The command of Rama is what I want to carry out. While it is so, how can I withstand the impact of Rama asking me to put up the hut at a place of my choice? Does it not amount to separation from Rama?” That is the intensity of the feelings of a true devotee towards the Lord. Your thoughts should always be centred on God. El Señor reside no solo en los corazones de los devotos, sino también en los de los malvados. En una ocasión, el niño Prahlada se acercó a su madre Leelavati y le dijo: «Madre, solo hay una diferencia entre yo, devoto de Hari, y mi padre, que lo odia. Contemplando siempre la dulce néctar del Señor, repitiendo Su nombre y recordándolo constantemente, estoy inmerso en la dicha del amor al Señor como un embriagado. Mi padre, en su odio a Narayana, ha convertido su corazón en piedra y lo ha instalado en él». El Señor que moraba en el corazón de Prahlada, que amaba a Narayana, y el Señor que estaba en el corazón de Hiranyakashipu, que odiaba a Narayana, eran uno y el mismo. Bebiendo profundamente el néctar del Amor Divino, Prahlada sació la sed de su corazón y encontró la dicha. Al instalar al Señor en su corazón endurecido, Hiranyakashipu no pudo saciar su ardiente sed y experimentó preocupaciones interminables. Se dice que el hombre debe vivir con fe. Quien vive con fe experimenta felicidad. Y quien experimenta esta felicidad estará lejos de la inquietud y vivirá en paz. - Discurso Divino, 15 de septiembre de 1986

The Lord resides not only in the hearts of devotees, but also in the hearts of the evil-minded. Once, child Prahlada approached his mother Leelavati, and told her, "Mother, there is only one difference between me, who is a devotee of Hari and my father, who hates Hari. Ever contemplating the nectarous sweetness of the Lord, repeating His name and constantly remembering Him, I am immersed in the bliss of love of the Lord like one intoxicated. My father, in his hatred of Narayana, has turned his heart into stone and installed Him in it." The Lord, who dwelt in the heart of Prahlada, who loved Narayana, and the Lord who was in the heart of Hiranyakashipu, who hated Narayana, was one and the same. Drinking deep the nectar of Divine Love, Prahlada quenched his heart's thirst and found bliss. Installing the Lord in his stony heart, Hiranyakashipu was unable to allay his burning thirst and experienced endless worries! It is said, man must live in faith. The one who lives in faith experiences happiness. And the man who experiences this happiness will be far from restlessness and live in peace. - Divine Discourse Sep 15, 1986

Dios tolerará todo menos la ira y el ego. No los apreciará. ¿Qué es el ego? ¿Para qué lo tenemos? ¿Es para la belleza física, la fuerza de los sentidos, la agudeza intelectual o la riqueza? Nada de esto es permanente. El ego engendra otras cualidades negativas. Dios ha dotado a cada ser humano de cualidades sagradas y nobles: Satya (Verdad), Dharma (Rectitud), Shanti (Paz), Prema (Amor), Ahimsa (No violencia). Desarrolla estas cualidades. La ira, los celos y el odio son cualidades negativas propias de un animal. ¿Cómo puede una persona con tales cualidades animales ser llamada ser humano? Un ser humano es aquel que posee buenas cualidades. Sigue la verdad. La verdad es Dios. Cultiva el amor. El amor es Dios. Vive en el amor. Desafortunadamente, hoy en día la gente no se esfuerza por manifestar las cualidades sagradas y nobles que les son inherentes. Ignorando su naturaleza innata, llevan una vida con cualidades adquiridas externamente. El cuerpo humano es como una caja fuerte de hierro. El Atma que reside dentro de esta caja fuerte de hierro es como un diamante precioso. Se supone que debes valorar los preciosos ornamentos con incrustaciones de diamantes que llevas dentro, no la caja fuerte de hierro exterior. Dentro del cuerpo humano hay ornamentos invaluables como Satya, Dharma, Shanti, Prema y Ahimsa. Discurso Divino, 5 de septiembre de 2006

God will tolerate anything but not anger and ego. He will not appreciate it. What is this ego? For what do we have ego? Is it for physical beauty or strength of senses or intellectual acumen or wealth? None of these is permanent. Ego breeds several other evil qualities. God has gifted every human being with such sacred and noble qualities: Satya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanti (Peace), Prema (Love), Ahimsa (Non-violence). Develop these qualities. Anger, jealousy, hatred are evil qualities befitting an animal. How can a person with such animal qualities be called a human being? A human being is one who has good qualities. Follow truth. Truth is God. Cultivate love. Love is God. Live in love. Unfortunately, today people are not making efforts to manifest sacred and noble qualities that are inherent in them. Ignoring their innate nature, they lead a life with qualities acquired from outside. The human body is like an iron safe. The Atma residing inside this iron safe is like a precious diamond. You are supposed to give value to the precious diamond-studded ornaments inside, not to the outer iron safe. ¿Por qué debemos permanecer firmes en la fe ante la incredulidad, el ridículo y la adversidad? Bhagavan nos lo recuerda hoy con amor y ejemplos memorables.

Dondequiera que la fe y la devoción a Dios sean evidentes, también se encuentran fuerzas que tienden a ridiculizarlas y debilitarlas. Donde hay un astika (teísta), también alzará la cabeza un nastika (ateo). La incredulidad en Dios o en la Voluntad Suprema no puede ser más que una pose adoptada para el engrandecimiento personal o la autopromoción. No resiste la luz de la razón ni de la experiencia; incluso los llamados ateos tienen Amor en sus corazones, honran la Verdad al tratar con la Sociedad y viven según los principios eternos y fundamentales de la justicia. Por lo tanto, son creyentes en Sat-chit-ananda (Ser, Conciencia, Dicha Suprema). Tienen el deber de dar testimonio en sus vidas del valor, la alegría, la fortaleza, la generosidad y la humildad que la verdadera espiritualidad y la fe pueden infundir en el ser humano, ante la decepción, la angustia, la derrota, la difamación y otras calamidades contra las cuales el ateo no tiene tal protección. El oro aumenta su valor al fundirse en el crisol. Un diamante, al ser tallado en una gema multifacética, se vuelve más brillante y más valioso. ¡No todos buscan una piedra opaca! Prahladha fue torturado por su padre iracundo; ¡pero eso solo aumentó su esplendor!- Discurso Divino, 30 de agosto de 1974

Why should we remain steadfast in faith when confronted by disbelief, ridicule, and adversity? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today with memorable examples.
Wherever faith and dedication to God are evident, forces that tend to ridicule it and diminish its strength also are found. Where an astika (theist) is, there a nastika (atheist) too will raise his head. Disbelief in God or Supreme Will can be only a pose assumed for the sake of personal aggrandisement or advertisement. It cannot stand the light of reason or of experience; even so-called atheists have Love in their hearts, honour Truth while dealing with Society, and live based on the eternal, basic principles of justice. So, they are believers in Sat-chit-ananda (Being, Awareness, Bliss Supreme). You have the duty to stand witness in your lives to the courage, the joy, the strength, the generosity, and the humility that true spirituality and faith can impart to man, when faced with disappointment, distress, defeat, defamation, and other calamities against which the atheist has no such shield. Gold gains in value when melted in the crucible. A piece of diamond, when it is cut into a many-faceted gem, is rendered more brilliant and more costly. A dull stone is not sought by all! Prahladha was subjected to torture by his irate father; but that only added to his lustre!

¿Qué es la verdadera entrega y por qué es mejor que la simple adoración? Bhagavan nos lo explica y nos inspira con amor a tomar el camino real de la entrega a Dios.

Dios es todopoderoso; Dios está en todas partes; Dios lo sabe todo. Para adorar un Principio tan formidable e ilimitado, el hombre dedica unos minutos de las 24 horas del día ante un ídolo, una imagen o una fotografía. Es ridículo, prácticamente inútil. Adóralo mientras tengas aliento, mientras estés consciente. No pienses en nada más que en Dios, no busques otro objetivo que conocer su mandato, no realices otra actividad que poner ese mandato en práctica. Eso es lo que significa entregarse. Entrégate a Él. Cuando te dispones a emprender un viaje, le entregas las llaves del coche al chófer y te sientas cómodamente y con seguridad en el asiento trasero, olvidando los posibles problemas del camino. Has entregado tu vida en manos de ese hombre, de su inteligencia, perspicacia y habilidad. Algunos hombres no se entregan por completo; ¡son demasiado egoístas para eso! Lo interrumpen a cada minuto con consejos, sugerencias y recomendaciones sobre cómo conducir; ¡con preguntas y dudas sobre el estado del auto o la carretera! Mantén la calma, ten fe y llega a tu destino sano y salvo. La vida es el auto, tu corazón es la llave. Dios es el Sarathi (el chófer). Entrégate a Él y libérate de más preocupaciones: viaja seguro y llega feliz.- Discurso Divino, 23 de febrero de 1971

What is true surrender and why is it better than simple worship? Bhagawan explains and lovingly inspires us to take the royal path of surrender to God!
God is all-powerful; God is everywhere; God is all-knowing. To adore such a formidable, limitless Principle, man spends a few minutes out of the 24 hours before an idol or image or picture! It is indeed ridiculous; it is practically futile. Adore Him so long as you have breath, so long as you are conscious. Have no other thought than God, no other aim than knowing His command, no other activity than translating that command into action. That is what is meant by surrender. Render yourself unto Him. When you intend to go on a journey, you hand over the keys of your car to the chauffeur and sit in comfort and security in the back seat, forgetting the possible troubles on the way. You have surrendered your life into the hands of that man, his intelligence, alertness, and skill. Some men do not fully surrender; they are too egoistic for that! They interrupt him every minute with tips, hints, and suggestions about driving; with questions and doubts regarding the condition of the car or the road! Be steady, have faith, and reach the goal safely. Life is the car, your heart is the key. God is the Sarathi (chauffeur). Surrender to Him and be rid of further bother: Travel safe and arrive happy.
