💦 🕯️ The new irrigation system in Sotk is more than infrastructure - it is a foundation for sustainable change. Through the transfer and localization of knowledge and innovation, and by fostering local partnerships, these efforts enhance community resilience, strengthen social cohesion, and lay the groundwork for long‑term sustainable agricultural development.

More water. Wider opportunities. A stronger Sotk. 💧🌱

🌊 Today in Sotk, Gegharkunik, together with Governor Karen Sargsyan, we celebrated the opening of a new irrigation system, including a 4,400 m³ reservoir and a 6.2 km of irrigation system that will provide more reliable irrigation water for local agriculture and benefit over 800 residents.

🏡 For farmers, reliable water means more opportunities to use their land, strengthen livelihoods and build a more resilient local food system.

🤝 The project was implemented with support of WFP Armenia, in partnership with the Gegharkunik Regional Administration, local authorities, and “Hayk for Our Heroes” NGO.

🫂 At the heart of every humanitarian response are people who choose to care.
People who are there when others are going through difficult moments in their lives.
People who bring support and hope when they are needed most.

💬 Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we join our voices with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to honour the people who dedicate themselves to helping others, often at great personal risk to their lives and safety.
They are there where help is needed most.

🌱 Their work changes lives, and they deserve our respect and protection.

🌱 Change starts with small steps.
A farmer caring for the soil.
A garden where children learn to grow food.
A school serving a nutritious meal.

Some changes are visible right away. Others take years to take root.
🌾 For 33 years, WFP has been working in Armenia to strengthen food security, support communities and build more resilient food systems, step by step, from farm to fork.

This year, we are bringing these experiences and solutions to COP17 in Yerevan, showing how practical action contribute to protecting biodiversity and building a more resilient food systems.
