Medaille Trust has called for the withdrawal of the modern slavery provisions in the proposed Immigration and Asylum Bill.

We are deeply concerned that the legislation could weaken protections for survivors, limit access to support, and undermine recovery for those who have experienced exploitation and trafficking.

Survivors deserve a system built on safety, trust, and trauma-informed support.

An evening where music, culture, and solidarity came together for something far greater than entertainment. Through ticket purchases, bank transfers, and direct contributions during the event, approximately €5,000 was raised to support the reintegration of survivors of human trafficking currently supported by Albanian shelters.

What made this night meaningful was not only the atmosphere created, but the message behind it: dignity, recovery, and the collective responsibility to stand beside those rebuilding their lives after exploitation.

A sincere thank you to URAT Network, and to .night.official for making this possible, creating an unforgettable experience while turning celebration into concrete support for a cause that requires long-term commitment, not momentary attention.

A room full of actors who don’t usually sit at the same table: NGOs, businesses, practitioners, but who ultimately shape the same outcome: whether reintegration holds or breaks.

This roundtable with the URAT Network and private sector partners focused on moving beyond goodwill into structure, defining how businesses can engage not as one-off supporters, but as consistent contributors to reintegration pathways. Employment, services, in-kind support, and long-term collaboration were discussed not as ideas, but as operational commitments.

Because sustainable reintegration does not happen in isolation. It requires systems that connect protection with opportunity, and partnerships that are willing to carry that responsibility forward.

This event was facilitated from Dr Shkelzen Marku and is part of the Sustainable Shelters project implemented by and funded by the Modern Slavery Fund of the Home Office through the British Embassy in Tirana .

A fresh start is not just an idea, it’s a decision, backed by opportunity and the right support.
In Elbasan, through the Flexy Hub, one of our participants has turned skills into a sustainable livelihood, opening the doors of his own barber shop. What began as a plan is now a functioning business, rooted in dignity, independence, and a clear sense of direction.
This is what reintegration looks like when it works: practical support, trust in individual potential, and pathways that connect people to real economic opportunities. Small inve0stments, when aligned with existing skills, create lasting impact, not only for the individual, but for the community around them.
From uncertainty to ownership, this is more than a business opening. It is a step toward stability, confidence, and long-term reintegration.

Criminal Justice & Precarious Migration: The 3rd Edition of Shared Learning Event
How should the UK and Albania respond to precarious migration, organised crime, and trafficking in a coordinated and evidence-led way?

Medaille Trust invites practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and civil society actors to a one-day Shared Learning Event delivered under the RECAP Project, funded by the FCDO Integrated Security Fund (ISF).

The programme will examine:
• Drivers of Albanian precarious and irregular migration
• Organised crime group evolution and transnational dynamics
• Anti-Trafficking Annual Report findings
• Diaspora engagement in prevention and trust-building
• Strengthening coordination between law enforcement and civil society.

A structured cross-sector forum designed for practical exchange, policy reflection, and stronger UK–Albania cooperation.
