১৯৯৭ সাল থেকে নাসার মহাকাশচারীরা আন্তর্জাতিক মহাকাশ স্টেশন (ISS) থেকে তাদের ভোটাধিকার প্রয়োগ করার সুযোগ পাচ্ছেন। এই প্রক্রিয়াটি শুরু হয় টেক্সাস অঙ্গরাজ্যের একটি বিশেষ আইনের মাধ্যমে, কারণ অধিকাংশ মার্কিন মহাকাশচারী হিউস্টনের জনসন স্পেস সেন্টারের কাছে বসবাস করেন। ভোটদানের জন্য একটি এনক্রিপ্টেড বা সুরক্ষিত ইলেকট্রনিক ব্যালট স্যাটেলাইটের মাধ্যমে মহাকাশ স্টেশনে পাঠানো হয়। মহাকাশচারীরা তাদের পছন্দমতো ভোট দিয়ে সেটি পুনরায় পৃথিবীতে কাউন্টি ক্লার্কের অফিসে পাঠিয়ে দেন। এর ফলে পৃথিবী থেকে শত শত মাইল দূরে মহাশূন্যে অবস্থান করেও তারা দেশের গণতান্ত্রিক প্রক্রিয়ায় সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারেন।
