Biodiversity Conservation, Climate Resilience, History Preservation, Community Engagement, Inclusion, Capacity Strengthening, Sustainable Secondary Livelihood – All these and more fitly describe the positive outcomes of the successfully completed Action for Habitat Project (Phase 1), implemented by barbudanGO.

Did the idea start with a bird – our very own Barbuda Warbler, or historical water resources – Low Pond and Owny Well? Was it the importance of propagating mangrove plantlets or the chance to develop new life skills for Barbudans and Antiguans? Whatever the spark was, we are excited by all that has been achieved in a short time.

Read about their success in today’s EAG Talk: https://bit.ly/eagtalk200225

It's Earthday🌍! This year's theme is 'Planet vs Plastic'.

These three local projects, supported by the GEF Small Grants Programme - UNDP, show that small actions have big impacts. Together, they are diverting tens of thousands of tons of plastic waste from our landfill, waterways and oceans🌊.

1. Adoptacoastline cultivates coastal stewardship among youth and community members across Antigua and Barbuda. Adoptacoastline already reports that some beaches need less and less intervention👏

2. Good Humans 268 is ensuring that plastic and aluminum can recycling is done in every primary and secondary school in Antigua and Barbuda🏆. They also provide income for persons living with disabilities, who sort and clean bottles and separate the caps.

3. West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation (WISH) receives the bottle caps and upcycles them to useful items, the most innovative being a lawn chair, and the most popular being flowerpots.

Let's take simple actions to safeguard our earth, our home!
