Getting everyone to look at the camera is easy. Getting everyone to agree on a pose? That’s another story.

Bella, Luxy, Stamp, and Danny brought a little of everything today—big smiles, thoughtful head tilts, and a few looks that say, “Haven’t you taken enough already?”

Hanging out together in their shady yard, they turned our quick visit into a full photo session. With faces like these, we couldn’t resist staying for a few more.

One dangling toy, seven kittens, and a handler with a very busy job!

Prat, Bolt, Dominic, Kate, Carla, Blitz, and Flan have gathered for playtime, with eyes following every movement and little paws ready to make their move. Some reach for the prize, others watch from the tire swing, and one has discovered that a lap comes with complimentary pets.

There’s room for every personality here—the eager hunters, the patient spectators, and those who would rather have a cuddle. Giving our kittens time to play, explore, and bond with their handlers is one of the loveliest parts of our day.

Lynx came to us after a car accident injured him. He arrived with three fractured metatarsal bones two weeks ago and tonight was time for his re-casting. The vets sedated him, removed the cast, re-xrayed him, and placed a new cast on his back leg and foot. The break has started to heal, but he came in quite malnourished and with leishmaniasis (evident on his nose), so we've got a lot of nutrients to catch up on as he heals, but we are hopeful.

It's late on the 29th, so it's definitely crunch time for us and we're depending on you to help us with the final push for this month. I wish I could say that costs will go down soon, but with no indication of the country's borders opening, we can't reasonably expect anything continued incremental increases this fall. We are working hard to mitigate the cost fluctuations, but we can only do so much, so we are coming to you hat in hand, and we need your help.

Just a quick message as I’m driving south to see friends and family and pick up more clinic supplies: we’ve got just two days left in the month and a long way to go. So if you are able to help, remember how much we can do with a cup of coffee.

More soon!

Lexi, Apollo, Mani, Zenith, and Kiwi have found today’s best seats: right by the window.

There’s clearly something fascinating happening outside, and everyone wants a better look. They’ve gathered shoulder to shoulder, taking turns stretching up to the glass and keeping watch. We’re still waiting for them to tell us what they spotted.

Food is served for our tortoises! Today’s spread has a variety of fresh greens and colorful vegetables, and everyone seems to have picked a favorite spot at the table. Some went straight for the leafy pile, while others settled in by their own plate and took their time.

They may move slowly, but they never seem to miss mealtime.

Little Minion came in to us at 1 kilogram with parvovirus and he's now made a full recovery and is a whopping 3 kilos! Skilled veterinarians and our wonderful clinic teams make these little miracles happen. Once he's gotten a bit stronger and can get his first set of vaccinations, he'll go back home to his family in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan. He's a very loved little boy!

Eleanor left Kabul almost one week ago and has traveled across the world to her new family in Colorado. She's been settling in and exploring her new home every day, including rolling in the grass of all her new neighbors' lawns. These are just a few snapshots of her new life and family.

Our three boys know when Zahir is bringing them a treat.

They get the hay and nutritious food they need every day, but Afghan naan has a special place in their hearts. Zahir picks up fresh bread from the bakery and brings it to them as a snack, and all three are eager for their turn.

They also love spending time together in their green, open space, wandering among the trees, enjoying the sunshine, and keeping a close eye on anyone who might be carrying naan. It’s a lovely place for our boys to spend their days.
