HAWCA’s Message on November 25 – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, is a moment to reaffirm that building a peaceful, free, and just society is only possible when women live in safety, dignity, and respect. This day calls on us to reflect, to stand in solidarity, and to take collective action to end violence against women.

Violence against women—manifesting in many forms, from domestic abuse to social and economic restrictions—remains one of the most serious human rights challenges. In Afghanistan, the current difficult conditions have increased women’s vulnerability and pressure more than ever before; yet even amid these hardships, women continue to stand with courage, hope, and resilience as they strive to protect their dignity and secure a better future for their children.

HAWCA believes that education, awareness, and economic empowerment are essential pathways to reducing violence and creating better lives for women. For years, we have stood beside women, and today we reaffirm our commitment to supporting and empowering them.

On this important day, our message is clear and deeply human:

Every woman has the right to live in safety and respect.

No woman should suffer in silence.

A society cannot be free or sustainable without the equal participation of women.

Let us join hands—within families, communities, and institutions—to build a safer and more just future for women.
Let us end violence, uphold dignity, and keep hope alive.

November 25 is a day of unity in support of women.

Tore kicken gegen Kinderarbeit ⚽

🚨

In light of student protests, Bangladeshi authorities must uphold their responsibilities under international law, and allow HRDs to carry out their human rights work free from fear of retaliation and restriction.

The criminalisation of HRDs for peaceful protest must end.
