Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty (SDG 1)�
Poverty is one of the biggest barriers to sustainable development. The Afghan Youth Network for SDGs is committed to empowering young people, creating economic opportunities, supporting education and skills development, and promoting social justice to contribute to poverty reduction in Afghanistan and around the world.
Global Overview:
● Around 8.5% of the world’s population live on less than $2.15 per day.
● Nearly 1 in 10 people still experience extreme poverty.
● Global crises, climate change, and economic challenges continue to push millions of people into poverty.
Afghanistan Context:
● Millions of people in Afghanistan face poverty and economic challenges.
● Limited job opportunities, economic instability, and lack of resources have increased poverty pressures.
● Young people play a key role in Afghanistan’s future and need greater access to education, skills, and opportunities.
