𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿.

In this spirit, Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) organized a high-level discussion on disaster preparedness, advocacy, and community volunteer initiatives in Kabul, while REHA is honored to provide technical and logistical support to this event.

The event brought together senior representatives from government institutions, United Nations agencies, donors, NGOs, and development partners to strengthen dialogue and collective action around Afghanistan’s increasing exposure to natural and climate-related hazards.

Discussions focused on critical preparedness gaps, institutional coordination, priority areas for investment, community resilience, and the role of trained volunteers in locally led disaster-risk management. The event also provided an important platform for drawing greater attention to the need for sustained donor and partner support for preparedness, risk reduction, and community-based response capacity.

Participants shared strategic and practical recommendations for improving coordination, strengthening volunteer initiatives, mobilizing resources, and supporting more inclusive and sustainable preparedness systems.

REHA appreciates ANDMA’s leadership and the valuable contributions of all participating institutions and partners.

We remain committed to working collaboratively with communities, public institutions, and development partners to advance disaster preparedness and build resilience across Afghanistan.

Today, REHA honors humanitarian workers and communities whose courage, compassion, and determination continue to inspire action in the face of crises.

In Afghanistan, humanitarian needs are increasingly shaped by climate change, environmental degradation, disasters, and the loss of livelihoods. Droughts, floods, water scarcity, and declining natural resources are not only environmental challenges, they directly affect people’s safety, food security, health, income, and dignity.

REHA works alongside affected communities to address these interconnected challenges through climate-resilience initiatives, environmental protection, disaster-risk reduction, preparedness, and sustainable livelihood support. Our approach connects community knowledge and locally identified priorities with research, capacity building, policy engagement, and advocacy—helping ensure that community experiences inform the policies and decisions that affect their future.

On World Humanitarian Day, we reaffirm our commitment to:
• Strengthening community resilience to climate and disaster risks
• Supporting sustainable environmental and water solutions
• Advancing disaster preparedness and risk reduction
• Protecting livelihoods and supporting locally led recovery
• Bringing community voices into policy and decision-making
• Promoting the meaningful participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups

Effective humanitarian action is not only about responding when crisis strikes. It is also about working with communities before, during, and aftershocks to reduce risks, restore hope, protect dignity, and build pathways toward a safer and more resilient future.
Together with communities and our partners, REHA remains committed to turning resilience into action.

𝗥𝗘𝗛A Enhances 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗚𝗢 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

As REHA grows, its internal systems must grow with it.

To strengthen accountability, programme quality, effectiveness, value for money, and institutional credibility, REHA successfully conducted a two-day Internal Programme Management Review Workshop, bringing together more than 20 senior managers, heads of departments, technical experts, and staff from across the organisation.

The workshop created an open and constructive space for colleagues from Programme, MEAL, Communications, Finance, Administration, Human Resources, Technical Teams, and Senior Management to review REHA’s progress since 2022 and jointly shape a stronger programme management system for the future.

Participants reflected on achievements, lessons, and challenges; clarified departmental responsibilities throughout the project cycle; and proposed practical solutions to improve coordination, information sharing, accountability, and collective decision-making.

This initiative reflects REHA’s belief that organisational credibility is built not only through successful projects, but also through strong internal systems, transparent leadership, skilled teams, and a culture of continuous learning.

The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to transform its recommendations into action, strengthen institutional accountability, and ensure that every department contributes effectively from project design to implementation, monitoring, reporting, learning, and closure.

REHA hopes this initiative can also serve as an encouraging practice for other national NGOs: as organisations expand, investing in internal systems, participatory leadership, staff ownership, and institutional learning is essential to sustaining quality, trust, and impact.

Stronger systems create stronger organisations. Stronger organisations create greater impact.

ابراز همدردی و فراخوان برای اقدام فوری در پی سیلاب ‌های ویرانگر نورستان

موسسه توانمندی، محیط زیست و کمک‌های بشری (REHA) با اندوه عمیق، مراتب تسلیت و همدردی خویش را در پی وقوع سیلاب‌ های ویرانگر اخیر در شهر پارون، مرکز ولایت نورستان، و سایر مناطق آسیب دیده این ولایت ابراز می‌دارد.

این رویداد المناک، تلفات جانی و خسارات گسترده مالی به جا گذاشته و شماری از خانواده‌ها را داغدار و بی سرپناه ساخته است. هیئت رهبری و کارکنان REHA ، ضمن ابراز تسلیت به خانواده‌های جان باختگان، برای زخمی‌ها شفای عاجل و برای افراد ناپدیدشده بازگشت سالم آرزو می‌ نمایند.
موسسه REHA بر ضرورت اقدام فوری و هماهنگ برای جستجو و نجات، رسیدگی صحی به زخمی‌ها، تامین مواد غذایی، آب آشامیدنی، سرپناه اضطراری و حمایت از خانواده‌های متضرر تاکید می‌نماید.

وقوع مکرر چنین رویدادهایی، بار دیگر آسیب پذیری شدید افغانستان را در برابر حوادث طبیعی و پیامدهای تغییر اقلیم آشکار می‌سازد. در شرایط کنونی، افزایش شدت و تکرار رویدادهای شدید اقلیمی، به ویژه سیلاب‌های ناگهانی، از پیامدهای جدی تغییر اقلیم به شمار می‌رود.

این وضعیت ضرورت سرمایه گذاری در سیستم‌های هشداردهی زودهنگام، مدیریت خطرات سیلاب، حفاظت از حوزه‌های آبخیز، احیای پوشش گیاهی، ایجاد زیرساخت‌ های مقاوم و افزایش آمادگی و تاب آوری جوامع محلی را برجسته می‌سازد.

این موسسه از جامعه جهانی می‌خواهد تا بدون تاثیرپذیری از ملاحظات سیاسی و بر بنیاد اصول بشری و بی طرفی حمایت‌ های مالی و تخنیکی پایدار و کافی را برای کاهش خطرات حوادث، سازگاری با تغییر اقلیم و توانمندسازی جوامع آسیب پذیر افغانستان فراهم نماید.
این حمایت‌ ها باید پیش از وقوع حوادث و با تمرکز بر پیشگیری، آمادگی و افزایش تاب آوری جوامع تامین گردد، نه تنها پس از وقوع فاجعه و وارد شدن تلفات.

همچنان، از حکومت تقاضا می‌گردد تا زمینه مناسب را برای فعالیت نهادهای ملی و بین‌المللی کمک رسان فراهم نموده و دسترسی سریع، ایمن و بدون مانع آنان را به جوامع آسیب دیده و در معرض خطر تضمین نماید.
موسسه REHA آمادگی خویش را برای همکاری و هماهنگی با نهادهای مسئول، سازمان ‌های بشردوستانه و جوامع محلی، مطابق حوزه کاری و امکانات موجود، ابراز می ‌دارد.

در این لحظات دشوار، در کنار مردم شریف نورستان ایستاده‌ایم.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀

As part of the ongoing Community-Based Disaster Preparedness and Response (CBDPR) program, a 3-day Focused Training of Trainers (FTT) was successfully conducted by REHA in close coordination with ANDMA from 7–9 July 2026. The 12 volunteer trainers (6 women and 6 men) were selected during the previous training of trainers in Kabul.

The training served as a refresher Program to strengthen participants' technical knowledge and practical skills in disaster risk management and community preparedness.

Participants enhanced their understanding of the disaster management cycle, the most common hazards affecting Afghanistan, disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, safe evacuation procedures, and the critical roles and responsibilities of community volunteers before, during, and after disasters.

The training also covered essential first aid and emergency response techniques, search and rescue principles, and concluded with practical simulation exercises on early warning and evacuation to reinforce participants' readiness to respond effectively during emergencies.

Following the training, these volunteer trainers will transfer their knowledge to communities, raising awareness on disaster risks, preparedness measures, and appropriate response actions.

Through this cascading approach, the Program aims to strengthen community resilience, improve local preparedness, and help protect lives and livelihoods across Afghanistan.

𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗔-𝗔𝗙𝗚 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴!

On July 7th, 2026, CANSA-Afghanistan convened its 10th meeting at the REHA office, providing a pivotal platform for members to champion environmental stewardship and strengthen climate resilience across Afghanistan.

The session commenced with a strategic update from the CANSA chair, setting a collaborative tone for the landmark approval of the CANSA-AFG Strategic Framework 2026–2028. This newly adopted framework now serves as the primary roadmap for the organization’s upcoming policy initiatives and sustainable development goals over the next two years.

The meeting provided a critical platform for multilateral updates, specifically regarding the progress of the Climate, Water, and Environment Task Force led by the World Bank, the European Union, and UNAMA. These insights were further grounded by a detailed presentation on the State of Environment Report 2025, which provided the data-driven foundation necessary for the group’s analysis of the CANSA-AFG Concept Note for funding exploration.

Looking toward the international stage, members engaged in an extensive discussion regarding COP31, coordinating a unified position paper and a robust advocacy and press engagement strategy to ensure Afghanistan’s climate priorities are effectively represented globally. The event drew to a close with the formulation of clear, actionable next steps and closing remarks, followed by an informal networking session that allowed partners to discuss future collaborative opportunities to strengthen
resilience.

REHA was pleased to host its “Environmental Knowledge and Partnership Reception” bringing together Country Directors, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Programmes from around 30 INGOs, the event took place in Kabul, on 22 June 2026,.

During the reception, REHA presented its three key environmental and climate workstreams, along with the recently published State of Environment 2025 report.

The event created an important space for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and partnership-building to strengthen climate action, environmental protection, and resilience programming in Afghanistan.

• سیمه ‌ییزې پوهې، بزګرانو، مالدارانو، ښځو او ټولنو درناوی وکړو
• تخریب شوې ځمکې د دوامدارې ځمکې او اوبو د مدیریت، د ونو کېنولو، د ایکوسیستمونو د بیارغونې او د اقلیم پر وړاندې د مقاومو معیشتونو له لارې بیا ورغوو.
