REHA Organization, in collaboration with the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA), successfully conducted a training program on Climate Change and Environmental Stewardship for 150 Ulama, under its ECCA-SDC Project, on April 20, 2026, in Kabul.

During the inaugural session, H.E. Mawlawi Matiul Haq "Khalis", Director General of NEPA, commended the initiative and pledged his full support, urging the Ulama to use their influential platforms to advocate for sustainable practices. Ezattullah Sediqi, Deputy Director of REHA, emphasized the Ulama's role as vital catalysts for social change in addressing Afghanistan's environmental crises.

REHA organization successfully conducted a professional two-days training program on Climate Change and environmental protection for media outlets and reporters, on April 14–15, 2026 in Kabul.

In the opening session, H.E DG of NEPA Mr. Mawlawi Khalis appreciated the joint initiative between 𝗡𝗘𝗣𝗔, 𝗥𝗘𝗛𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜𝗝𝗨, expressed his entire support of such events and efforts, and encouraged the participants and media to play their vital role in environmental awareness across the country. REHA and AIJU officials also expressed their continued support for facilitating such initiatives and called media as not only the messengers of climate action but also drivers of awareness, advocacy, accountability, and mobilization of action and resources through a wide range of stakeholders.

This vital initiative was organized in close coordination with the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) and Afghanistan Independent Journalists Union (AIJU) to address the pressing environmental challenges of our time.

We are honored to host 100 dedicated media reporters, representatives and professional journalists who are at the forefront of public information. The primary goal of this program was to significantly enhance the knowledge of media professionals regarding climate change and to empower them to play an active role in environmental reporting and disseminating critical messages to communities across the nation.

Together, we are working towards a more resilient and sustainable future for Afghanistan. 🌱✨

Had a Productive Meeting at NEPA, 18 March 2026

In this meeting a number of climate change and environmental issues discussed.

REHA shared their insights, feedback and supportive in the process of preparation for COP31.

Discussed and agreed on crucial steps of the finalisation and launch event for the SOE assessment report.

Updated NEPA on the new partnership between NEPA, SDC and REHA.

Additionally, H.E DG of NEPA and his team as always expressed their unwavering support and cooperation.

Both side agreed to follow up right away after Eid holidays.

𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲

On 22 February 2026, REHA Organization successfully conducted a Climate Change Awareness Training and Distribution of Women-Led Energy Packages in Parwan Province under the project Bringing Insights on Resilience for Climate Change-Affected Women (BIRCCAW), with the support of UN Women.

The event brought together 70 women participants and was honored by the presence of the Head of the Provincial Department of Environment of Parwan, highlighting the importance of collaboration between government institutions and civil society in strengthening climate resilience.

The training focused on increasing women’s awareness of climate change and its local impacts, particularly drought, floods, water scarcity, and environmental degradation at both household and community levels. Participants were guided on practical actions to take before, during, and after floods and other climate-related disasters, including household preparedness measures, water protection practices, and risk reduction steps. The session also emphasized simple and practical approaches to coping with drought conditions and managing limited resources more effectively.

Given that women are disproportionately affected by climate-induced resource stress, strengthening their knowledge and practical capacities is essential for building sustainable resilience within families and communities.

Following the training session, Women-Led Energy Packages were distributed to the participants. In addition to the distribution, clear guidance was provided on the proper use and maintenance of the energy packages to ensure their safe, efficient, and long-term utilization. By combining awareness-building with practical support, the initiative aims to reduce women’s workload, enhance adaptive capacity, and promote environmentally responsible energy practices at the household level.

This initiative reflects REHA’s continued commitment to climate action, women’s empowerment, and sustainable community development—recognizing women not only as vulnerable to climate impacts, but as key contributors to building resilient and self-reliant communities.

Together, through partnership and evidence-based action, we are advancing climate resilience and empowering women at the forefront of environmental challenges.

The CANSA Afghanistan Chapter convened its regular meeting to review progress and deliberate on key strategic priorities for 2026. The meeting was attended by DACAAR, SAF, TLO, NNAWDO, CISO, WYLEO, REHA, LSO, EPTDO, Serve Afghanistan, FGA, ODESC, RCPA, OPHA, AREA, and HMLO.

Chaired by Ezattullah Sediqi, the meeting moved beyond routine updates and focused on strengthening CANSA Afghanistan’s strategic role within the national climate landscape. Members reviewed progress achieved in 2025 and engaged in substantive discussions on how the Chapter can position itself more effectively as a coordinated platform for climate advocacy, capacity building, and policy engagement.

A central theme of the discussion was defining CANSA Afghanistan’s comparative role as a structured linkage mechanism — connecting local civil society partners to national climate policy processes, while also strengthening engagement with regional CANSA platforms and Climate Action Network International (CAN-I). Participants emphasized the importance of amplifying Afghan civil society voices within national, regional and global climate dialogues and policies.

The meeting identified four priority focus areas for 2026:
• Coordinated national-level climate advocacy and policy influence
• Capacity strengthening of member organizations
• Structured engagement with regional and international CAN platforms
• Exploration of collaborative funding opportunities to support climate initiatives

Members reaffirmed their commitment to collective positioning, evidence-based advocacy, and stronger institutional coordination. The discussions underscored CANSA Afghanistan’s evolving role as a nationally anchored yet globally connected climate network.

The session was hosted by DACAAR under the Chapter’s rotational hosting arrangement, reinforcing collective ownership among member organizations.

رها موسسې د ننګرهار ولایت په پچیراګام ولسوالۍ کې د یوې چاپېریالي پروژې په چوکاټ کې د نیالګیو اېښودلو رسمي کمپاین پیل کړ. دا ستراتیژیک ګام د چاپېریال ساتنې ملي ادارې په نږدې همغږۍ او د ملګرو ملتونو پراختیایي پروګرام (UNDP) په مالي ملاتړ پلي کېږي.

د دې پروژې له لارې د سیمې د ایکوسیسټم د احیاء کولو په موخه، په ټولیزه توګه ۶۰۰۰ مثمر او غیر مثمر نیالګي ایښودل کېږي. د دغو نیالګیو د اوبه کولو او خوندیتوب لپاره عصري زیربناوې لکه د ۱۲ کیلو واټه لمریزې برېښنا (سولر) سیسټم، د اوبو دوه لویې زېرمې او د اوبولو لپاره یې قطره ای سیستم جوړ شوی ده. دا نوښت نه یوازې پر چاپیریال مثبت اغېز کوي، بلکې ځايي خلکو ته د کاري فرصتونو په برابرولو سره، د اقلیمي بدلونونو په وړاندې د ټولنې اقتصادي وړتیا هم لوړوي.

ویناوالو په خپلو خبرو کې ځنګلونه ملي شتمني او د راتلونکو نسلونو امانت وبلل او ساتنه یې د هر چا ګډ مسؤلیت وګاڼه. دوی ټینګار وکړ چې دا ونې د بارانونو په تنظیم، د سېلابونو په مخنیوي، د هوا ککړتیا په کمولو او د سیمه ییز اقتصاد په وده کې بنسټیز رول لري.

مراسم په سمبولیک ډول د څو نیالګیو په اېښودلو پای ته ورسېدل، او ځايي ټولنو په رسمي ډول ژمنه وکړه چې د دغو ونو او جوړو شویو زیربناوو په ساتنه او پالنه کې به بشپړه همکاري کوي. موږ په ګډه د یو زرغون او مقاوم افغانستان لپاره بنسټ ږدو.

برنامه نهال شانی در زون شرق (ننگرهار)!

مؤسسه (رها) کمپاین غرس نهال شانی را به عنوان بخشی از یک پروژه محیط ‌زیستی خویش در ولسوالی پچیراگام ولایت ننگرهار رسما آغاز نمود. این ابتکار توسط مؤسسه (رها) در هماهنگی نزدیک با اداره ملی حفاظت محیط‌زیست (NEPA) و با حمایت مالی برنامه پیشرفت و توسعه ملل متحد (UNDP) در افغانستان تطبیق می‌ گردد.

در این پروژه، مجموعاً ۶۰۰۰ اصله نهال مثمر و غیرمثمر به منظور احیای اکوسیستم محلی غرس می‌ گردد. جهت تضمین پایداری طولانی‌مدت این نهال ها، زیربناهای تخنیکی شامل نصب سیستم پنل‌ های آفتابی (سولر) ۱۲ کیلووات، دو ذخیره‌ بزرگ آب و سیستم آبیاری قطره‌ای ایجاد گردیده است. فراتر از تأثیرات محیط ‌زیستی، این ابتکار با فراهم‌ سازی فرصت ‌های شغلی حیاتی برای باشندگان محل، تاب ‌آوری جوامع را در برابر تغییرات اقلیمی تقویت می ‌کند.

در مراسم افتتاحیه، هیئتی بلندپایه شامل مقامات مرکزی اداره ملی حفاظت محیط ‌زیست، نماینده مقام ولایت ننگرهار، ریاست محیط ‌زیست ولایت ننگرهار، ریاست زراعت، آبیاری و مالداری و مسئولین ولسوالی پچیراگام، برعلاوه بیش از ۲۰۰ اشتراک ‌کننده گان شامل بزرگان قوم و باشندگان محل حضور داشتند.

مقامات شرکت کننده گفتند، جنگلات به عنوان یک سرمایه ملی شناخته می‌شوند و حفاظت از آن‌ها یک مسئولیت جمعی است؛ زیرا این منابع امانتی برای نسل‌های آینده می ‌باشند. این درختان نقش بنیادی در تنظیم بارندگی، جلوگیری از سیلاب‌های مدهش، کاهش آلودگی هوا و تقویت اقتصاد محلی ایفا می‌کنند.

این مراسم با غرس نمادین نهال به پایان رسید، و جامعه محلی متعهد گردید تا در درازمدت از این درختان و زیرساخت‌ها حفاظت و نگهداری نمایند. ما در کنار هم، بنیادی سرسبزتر و مقاوم‌تر برای آینده افغانستان بنا می‌کنیم.

𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗵𝗮𝗿)!

REHA Organization is proud to announce the formal inauguration of a tree plantation campaign under its latest environmental resilience project in the Pachir Agam District of Nangarhar Province. This initiative is implemented by REHA in close coordination with NEPA and financial support of UNDP Afghanistan.

Under this project, a total of 6,000 fruit and non-fruit trees are being planted to restore the local ecosystem. To ensure the long-term sustainability of these plantations, the infrastructure includes the installation of 12 KW solar panels system, two large water reservoirs and an integrated drip irrigation system. Beyond the environmental impact, this initiative provides essential employment opportunities for local residents, strengthening the communities’ resilience against climate change.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation, including national officials from NEPA, representatives from the Nangarhar Governor’s Office, the Provincial Directorate of NEPA, the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), and district officials, alongside over 200 participants including community elders and residents.

Forests are a national asset, and their protection is a collective responsibility as they are a trust for future generations. These trees play a fundamental role in regulating rainfall, preventing flash floods, reducing air pollution, and bolstering the local economy.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic plantation, and community pledged to the long-term protection and maintenance of these trees and infrastructure. Together, we are building a greener and more resilient foundation for the future of Afghanistan.

On 5 February 2026, the Resilience, Environment and Humanitarian Aid Organization (REHA), in close coordination with the Kapisa Provincial Environmental Protection Directorate, successfully conducted a Provincial Consultation Workshop on Climate Change in Kapisa Province under the BIRCCAW Project, with support from UNW.

The consultation brought together government officials, community representatives, and key stakeholders to discuss the localized impacts of climate change, with particular attention to households and women. Discussions focused on how droughts and floods are affecting water access, livelihoods, family roles, decision-making processes, and the overall health and well-being of communities.

This inclusive dialogue provided valuable community-driven insights and highlighted priority actions needed to strengthen climate adaptation, resilience, and evidence-based planning at the provincial level. The outcomes of this consultation will contribute to more responsive and climate-resilient programming aligned with local needs and humanitarian priorities.

Ultimately, this initiative represents an important step toward empowering communities, amplifying local voices, and advancing coordinated climate action in Kapisa Province.
