The Business Council – Dubai participated in the Business Forum meeting held on 19 June 2026.

The in-person meeting was jointly hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in the UAE and the Cyprus Business Council – Dubai, in the context of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the support and facilitation of the Trade Centre in Dubai and the Delegation in UAE.

The meeting provided an opportunity for EU Business Stakeholders to exchange views on the current situation in the UAE and the wider region, and to discuss the latest developments, resilience, and next steps for the EU Business Forum across sectors (AI, Quantum Technologies, Defence, Banking etc.).

Key topics discussed included:
• The launch of a new Energy Taskforce and the three pillars (Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Aviation Fuels, and Infrastructure Projects)
• Food & Beverage Taskforce and EU geographical identification products.
• Establishment of a third taskforce on Logistics
• The next round of Free Trade Agreement negotiations
• The forthcoming DG MENA Breakfast

Such meetings play an important role in strengthening dialogue, fostering cooperation and supporting closer economic and commercial relations between the EU Companies and the United Arab Emirates.

The Council remains committed to contributing actively to initiatives that strengthen EU–UAE business relations, create new opportunities for collaboration and advance shared economic priorities.

The Cyprus Business Council (CBC) UAE was honoured to attend the Sri Lankan Business Council UAE Special Evening, themed “Strengthening Relationships, Enabling Opportunities.”
The event highlighted exciting investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, with particular focus on the transformative hashtag Colombo Economic Free Zone.
Representing the Cyprus Business Council, our General Secretary, Andreas Tsindos, had the privilege of engaging in high-level discussions with H.E. Arusha Cooray, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the UAE, and H.E. Hanif Yusoof, Governor of the Western Province of Sri Lanka and Special Envoy for Foreign Investment. Discussions focused on strengthening ties between Cyprus and Sri Lanka and exploring new avenues for collaboration, trade, and investment. Follow-up meetings were agreed to further advance these opportunities.
Andreas also had the opportunity to reconnect with fellow Business Council representatives, including Kanat Kutluk of the Turkish Business Council UAE and Ivan Mavrov of the Bulgarian Business Council UAE, exchanging updates and discussing areas of mutual interest and cooperation.
The evening provided a wonderful showcase of Sri Lankan culture, featuring traditional folk dances, cultural performances, and exceptional Sri Lankan cuisine.
A special thank you to Suren Swaminathan, Chairman of the Sri Lankan Business Council UAE, and his dedicated team for their outstanding hospitality. Congratulations on celebrating 35 years of success as one of the UAE’s leading business councils. We look forward to many more opportunities for collaboration between our councils in the years ahead.
