UNGP-UAE is proud to share that Prof. Gary Chan, Deputy Director-General for the Middle East & Africa, was invited by Dubai Chambers to speak at the ESG-focused session, "Sustainability & ESG Reporting Requirements: From Awareness to Action."

Joining representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), the Capital Market Authority (CMA), sustainability experts, and business leaders, Prof. Chan discussed the growing need to move beyond ESG reporting towards verifiable sustainability performance and accountability.

His presentation, "From Commitments to Accountability: Building a Verifiable SDG Action Framework in the New ESG Era," highlighted how UNGP's SDGs Assessment and Endorsed Partner Programmes can help organizations turn sustainability commitments into measurable impact.

We thank Dubai Chamber for hosting this important conversation and for its continued leadership in advancing responsible business practices in the UAE.

📍 Middle East Update – 8 April 2026

A two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran has been announced today after nearly 40 days of escalating hostilities. The United Nations Secretary-General welcomed the move as an important step toward de-escalation and diplomacy.
However, continued strikes in Lebanon highlight the fragility of the situation and the urgent need to protect civilians.
This moment reinforces the importance of:
