Last week, the UN Global Compact Network UAE celebrated the conclusion of the 2025–2026 UAE Climate Ambition Accelerator cohort, bringing together participating companies, programme ambassadors, sustainability leaders, and key stakeholders to reflect on the transition from climate ambition to implementation. The closing ceremony was hosted by Mashreq, the Climate Principal Patron of the UN Global Compact Network UAE’s Climate Pillar.
Over the course of the programme, participants strengthened their understanding of greenhouse gas accounting, science-based target setting, emissions reduction strategies, and climate governance, while developing practical foundations for climate action within their organizations.
The session featured a panel discussion on Climate Ambition in Practice: Understanding the UAE’s Federal Climate Law and its Implications for Business, with Humaid Abdulla Kanji, Section Head – Environmental Economics (Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi), Faisal Al Shimmari, Executive Vice President, Head of Environment Social Governance (Mashreq Bank), Nazly Asadollahpour, Sustainability VP (Majid Al Futtaim), and Deepika Verma, ESG Manager (Innovo Group).
The session also featured company spotlight presentations from dnata, Arabian Gulf Steel Industries, and RAK Ceramics, highlighting key learnings, progress, and next steps emerging from the programme.
We were also pleased to announce Majid Al Futtaim as Climate Principal Patron of the UN Global Compact Network UAE’s Climate Pillar.
