A recent study by Germany’s Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research has brought to light a dire prediction: the global economy could suffer losses of approximately $38 trillion annually by 2049 due to climate impacts. Leonie Wenz, who led the study, states, “Climate change will cause massive economic damages within the next 25 years in almost all countries.”

The research underscores the need for significant action today. Limiting global warming to 2°C is not just necessary but the most cost-effective method to reduce these impending damages. Innovations in carbon management and substantial reductions in emissions are more than feasible—they are essential.

This Earth Day, it's time to rethink our strategies. Engaging in proactive carbon management, embracing cleaner technologies, and transforming our industries to operate sustainably are not just moral choices, but economic imperatives.
