A global grassroots movement dedicated to providing affordable and sustainable solar light to energy-poor communities, Liter of Light( )has empowered over a million lives across 32 countries since 2013. When night falls over the Pyramids of Giza, Liter of Light's installation burns to life at 'Forever is Now II'. In cooperation with SHEMS, a Moroccan social enterprise that produces and sells 100% eco-friendly solar lamps, the installation was made out of hand-built lights by local women potters, student volunteers and young leaders in the Moroccan city of Safi. After it illuminates the Giza Plataeu, the installation will be moved to Sharm El Sheikh to light the way at the UN Climate Change Conference.

THE POWER IS YOURS.

This year, the UN climate summit is being held in Africa. 70 per cent of the continent’s population is under the age of 30, with several vulnerable communities living on the frontlines of the climate crisis. This makes the importance of listening to the voices of young people especially significant at COP27.

This artwork is a collection of 1,200 circuits built by hand by youth and participants from the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Egypt.
