رصدنا طلوع نجم سهيل ليلة أمس (٢٥ أغسطس) من مرصد السديم للفلك بصحراء الوثبة.

نجم سهيل هو ثاني ألمع نجمة في السماء الليلية، ويُعتبر من أهم النجوم عند العرب قديمًا.

كان نجم سهيل من ضمن النجوم التي استدل بها العرب قديمًا عن حالة الطقس.

فاعتُبر طلوعه قديمًا عند العرب العلامة التي تدل على بداية شهر الشتاء وانكسار درجات الحرارة.

فعُرف عن العرب القول الشهير: إذا طلع سهيل لا تأمن السيل.

سهيل نجمة من نوع العملاق الأبيض، ويشع أكثر من الشمس بعشر مرات، ويبعد عن الأرض حوالي ٣٠٠ سنة ضوئية.

From Al Sadeem Observatory, we observed the star Suhail (Canopus) last night (August 25th).

Canopus is the second brightest star in the night sky and it was one of the most important stars in the lives of ancient Arabs.

Because observing Suhail in the night sky meant that hot days are ending and cooler and more moderate weather is coming ahead.

So much so that the Arabs had a famous saying that translates to: “at the coming of Suhail, fear the heavy rain.”

Suhail is a white giant star, it shines 10 times brighter than the Sun and it’s at roughly a 300 light-year distance from Earth.

هل رأيتم من قبل سديم يجتمع به الأنواع الثلاثة للسدُم المعروفة؟

إنه سديم البتلات الثلاثة في كوكبة القوس على بُعد حوالي 5000 سنة ضوئية عن الأرض

استخدمنا تليسكوب فيسبيرا الذكي لالتقاط صورة مميزة لهذا السديم والتي يتضح فيها ثلاثة أنواع من السدم في سديم واحد

نرى في منتصف الصورة أن السديم يتكون من مناطق إشعاعية تشع ضوءها الخاص، وأخرى انعكاسية تعكس ضوءًا قريبًا وأخرى مظلمة تمتص جميع الضوء

لا تتوقف المفاجآت في الصورة عند هذا الحد، ففي أعلى يسار الصورة نرى تجمعًا نجميًا مفتوحًا معروفًا باسم M21 وهو تجمع نجمي من مجموعة صغيرة من النجوم حديثة التكوين المرتبطة ببعضها البعض ارتباط ضعيف بفعل جاذبيتهم المشتركة

Have you ever witnessed a nebula with three different sub categories in one? This is the Trifid nebula!

Shot using Vespera smart telescope, the Trifid nebula lies in the constellation Sagittarius about 5000 lightyears away from Earth

If you look closely at the center of the image you can see the nebula has an emission part that emits its own light, a reflective part reflecting light from a nearby star and a dark part absorbing all light

The image hosts one more surprise! At the upper left corner lies M21, an open cluster of young newly formed stars that are loosely bound by their mutual gravitational interaction

باستخدام تلسكوب ڤيسبيرا الذكي ومن مرصد السديم للفلك، صورنا سديم أمريكا الشمالية.

يقع سديم أمريكا الشمالية على بُعد ١٦٠٠ سنة ضوئية عن الأرض في كوكبة الدجاجة.

تتفاعل مكونات السديم مع الطاقة المنبعثة من نجم عالي الطاقة قريب منها، ثم تشع ضوءها الخاص ولهذا يعتبر السديم من السُدم الإشعاعية
يحتوي السديم على المكونين الأساسيين لصناعة المزيد من النجوم في الكون، وهما الغاز والغبار الكوني.

Using the smart telescope Vespera and from of Al Sadeem Observatory, we shot this image of the North America nebula.

The North America nebula got its name from its resemblance to the continent, it lies in the constellation Cygnus 1600 light years away from Earth.

The nebula contains cosmic gas and dust– the basic material fueling star formation in the universe.

The gas and dust in the nebula absorb high energy from a nearby star, then emit their own light.

That’s why the North America nebula is an emission nebula.
