من مرصد السديم بأبو ظبي، زرنا سديم كاليفورنيا الشهير والمعروف أيضًا باسم NGC 1499 or Sh2-220.
يُعرف سديم كاليفورنيا بهذا الاسم لأن صورته في الضوء المرئي تشبه ولاية كاليفورنيا بالولايات المتحدة.
يبعُد سديم كاليفورنيا حوالي 1000 سنة ضوئية عن الأرض ويقع في كوكبة حامل رأس الغول.
أحد المعالم المذهلة هي النجمة الواضحة أعلى يسار الصورة وتُسمى منكب وهي نجمة شديدة اللمعان وتفوق درجة حرارتها درجة حرارة الشمس بست مرات!
نجمة منكب هي النجمة المسؤولة عن إشعاعات الغازات المحيطة بها والتي تُشكل سديم كاليفورنيا الباهر.
From the heart of Al Sadeem Observatory, we pointed our lense to the famous California Nebula.
The name comes from the resemblance of the nebula seen in visible light with the state of California in the United States.
The California Nebula, also known as NGC 1499 or Sh2-220, is located in the constellation Perseus at about 1000 light years away.
One key feature is the extra bright star in the upper left corner of the image called Xi Persei or Menkib.
Menkib is a huge star six times hotter than our own sun, it emits an enormous amount of energy producing the emission we see from gasses around it.
